Growing up, Olivia was your run of the mill poor child of London. Her mother died giving birth to Olivia, and her father later died of the black plague when Olivia was but 8 years of age. Since then she was nothing but an orphan wondering the streets, stealing and begging for food. She eventually found herself in a work house waiting with mostly young boys close to her age to be hired or taken away somewhere better. Over the years she built a tough skin to the other boys’ teasing and started acting more and more like one of them. One day while in the midst of beating the tar out of some boy trying to steal her shoes, a wealthy French captain comes in looking to hire a new cabin boy. The French Captain Porthos Lenoir, interrupts the fight, and decides to hire Olivia once hearing her story of why she was wailing on the boy who was a bit older and bigger than she was. She was given much trouble for the first few months she was at sea with the crew, but over time she became the daughter of their big family. The captain ended up becoming a father figure to Olivia and very often times called her his Princesse œil noir. Princesse œil noir is French for “Black eye Princess”; he called her this for the reason that she often times had a tendency of giving out black eyes to those that tried to cross her.
Over the years of her traveling with the captain and his crew she grew to wear more black to seem more intimidating and take on the last name of the captain “LeNoir” French for “The Black”. The captain eventually was captured and hung for being a pirate, leaving Olivia on her own. And so in the spirit of her great father figure, she continues in the only lifestyle she knows best. Piracy!
